Donway Kennels is located in the Western North Carolina Mountains in Avery County. Avery County is primarily known as the "Christmas Tree Capital of the World". Our family has resided in Avery County since 1969. My parents, Donna and Wayne Autry, founded Donway Kennels in 1988, thus spawning the name "Donway". After retiring from careers as educators in the state, Donna and Wayne moved from the mountains to Marion, NC in September 2005. They built a home at Lake James and are enjoying the warmer climate of the foothills.
I am John Troy, the oldest son of Wayne and Donna. I began operation of the kennel in 2005, when my parents relocated. I have two children, Bailey and Jessi. I have grown up being part of the dog business. But Donway Kennels has always been much more than a business to our family, it has been a lifestyle that we have grown to love. I am pleased to have the opportunity to serve you and vow to continue the tradition that my parents began.
